Church History Tour

This last Saturday we had the fun chance to take a church history tour from Adam-Ondi-Ahman to Jamesport (a small Amish town, not church history, but oh well..) to Far West to Liberty Jail, to Independence. We went with some new friends of ours that are also first years at the med school. It was so fun, but a really long day! We left at 9:00 am and first stopped at the Amish town. It was cool, but I wouldn't go again unless I was going to buy something from their store or something. We got Kyle a little toy horse, but found out when we left that it was actually made in China. What a disappointment! But we saw the valley of Adam-Ondi-Ahman and made our way out to Far West. What's in Far West???? Four cornerstones and a big plaque thing. That's about it. Oh... and a potty. Then we drove to Liberty and saw the jail that had the actual floor where Joseph Smith stood in the jail. They recreated the walls to show how thick and really inescapable it was. We then made our way to Independence where we saw "THE TEMPLE" for the Community of Christ and visited the LDS visitors center there. It was really interesting how it was so similar to the Salt Lake Temple visitor's center, but there was no LDS temple. We got back at about 8:30 pm. Here are some pictures we took at each site.

We sat next to the very ground that Joseph Smith walked on!! It was pretty cool to see it and try to visualize their experience there. The ceiling was only 6 ft tall, so some of the men could not stand straight up the whole time.

This tree was probably the coolest thing at Far West.. I wanna see someone climb up that thing!
